The Reverand Canon           Calvin Van Kirk Hoyt
The Rev. Canon Calvin Van Kirk Hoyt is the pastor of Mount Calvary Episcopal Church. Canon Hoyt has served most of his ministry in this parish. He became rector in July 1970 and was named an honory cathedral canon in 1980. You may know the term monsignor for which Canon is roughly equivalent.

Canon Hoyt, whom people know as Kirk, is a graduate of Albright College in Reading Pennslyvania. His Masters Degree in Theology was conferred by the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Kirk is active in the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania. He has served on the Commision on Ministry, The Standing Committee, and is an Examining Chaplain. With a vital interest in liturgics he was responsible for the choreographing of Bishop McNutt's Consecration and has served as the Bishop's Chaplain at the Consecration of Michael Creighton.

In the community Canon Hoyt serves on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania State Pastors Conference and has chaired the same numerous times. He has served on the Camp Hill School Board and is currently a volunteer gardener at the Cleve J. Fredricksen Library. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Harrisburg Choral Society.

Kirk is interested in the arts, both as a participant and observer. He paints in oil and is an avid photographer.

Kirk and his wife Judith have three grown children and four grandchildren.
